What "Fresh" Actually Means at Golden Catch
Most fish counters in NYC restock once or twice a week. We restock every morning, six days a week, from the same Hunts Point and Fulton-network distributors that supply the city's best seafood restaurants. If a piece of fish has been on ice longer than a day, it doesn't go in the case — it goes in the fryer or steamer for that day's hot menu.
When you walk into our market on 116th Street you'll see clear-eyed whole fish, bright-red gills, firm fillets that don't smell, and shellfish on a true ice bed — never sitting in melt-water. That's the standard for fresh seafood in Harlem and we don't compromise on it.
